Gender reveal balloons across Morris, Union and Essex counties

A gender reveal is one moment. Everything else on the day is set dressing for the two seconds when the colour appears, and the photographs people keep are the ones taken in those two seconds.

So the setup matters less than the timing, the sightlines and — above all — nobody spoiling it beforehand.

Keeping the secret is the actual job

Most of the anxiety around a reveal is not the decorations, it is the fear that somebody will find out early.

The arrangement that works best is simple: the result comes to us, not to you. That can be a sealed envelope straight from the sonographer, or a friend or family member who is in on it and passes the colour on. You never open anything, and you never have to trust yourself not to look.

Tell us at the enquiry stage who knows and who does not. We will keep messages, deliveries and the install itself clear of anyone who should not see. If you are having the installation set up at home while you are out, that is usually the cleanest option.

Three ways to do the reveal

The pop balloon. A large black balloon filled with coloured confetti or powder, popped on cue. It is the classic for a reason: the colour appears all at once, it photographs well, and everyone can see it. Confetti is better indoors, powder is better outdoors and in daylight.

The balloon box. A sealed box that releases helium balloons when the lid comes off. Quieter, tidier and easier to film than a pop, and it suits indoor rooms and smaller gatherings. It is also the friendliest option for a sibling reveal, because a small child can lift a lid more reliably than they can burst a balloon.

A confetti reveal built into the installation. The colour is hidden inside a larger display and released as part of it. Best when you want the reveal to be part of the room rather than a standalone moment.

The setup around it

The reveal itself lasts seconds; the backdrop is in every photograph taken before and after. Most reveals are built on a neutral palette — creams, greys, soft metallics — so nothing gives the answer away, with the colour arriving only in the reveal itself.

We build the neutral elements in advance: organic garlands, photo backdrops, arches and columns. If you want the room to change colour after the reveal, we can plan that too.

Outdoors

Outdoor reveals work well, particularly powder pops where daylight does the work. Wind is what to plan for — it affects anchoring and, more importantly, where the powder actually travels. Tell us it is outdoors when you enquire and we will build for it and talk through the forecast.

Getting a quote

Send the date, the venue and roughly what you picture. We come back with a concept and a price, usually within a day. Reveals are quoted against the brief rather than sold from a list, because a single pop balloon and a full installation with a backdrop are very different jobs. There is no cost or obligation to ask.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How do you keep the gender a secret from the parents?

This is the part people worry about, and it is the part we do most often. The usual arrangement is that the result goes straight to us rather than to you — a sealed envelope from the sonographer, or a nominated friend or family member who passes on the colour. You never have to open anything or handle anything. Tell us at the enquiry stage who knows and who does not, and we will keep every message and delivery clear of anyone who should not see it.

What kinds of gender reveal balloons do you do?

The three most common are the pop balloon (a large black balloon filled with coloured confetti or powder, popped on cue), the balloon box (a sealed box that releases helium balloons when the lid comes off), and a confetti reveal built into a larger installation. We also build neutral backdrops, garlands and arches that work in photographs before the colour is revealed.

Do you deliver and set up gender reveal balloons?

Yes. We deliver and install across Morris, Union and Essex counties, typically within about 20 miles of our Chatham studio, and come back afterwards to take everything down. For a pop balloon we position it so the photographs work and brief whoever is popping it.

Can a gender reveal be done outdoors?

Yes, and outdoors is often better for a powder reveal or a balloon release setup. Wind is the thing to plan for rather than rain — it affects both the anchoring and where the confetti actually goes. Tell us it is outdoors when you enquire and we will build for it and talk through the forecast beforehand.

How far in advance should I book a gender reveal?

Two to three weeks is comfortable, which usually lines up with the scan. Shorter notice is often possible, particularly if you are close to Chatham — ask rather than assume. The colour itself can come to us much later than the booking.

What does a gender reveal setup cost?

It depends on whether it is a single pop balloon or a full installation with a backdrop, so reveals are quoted against the brief rather than sold from a list. Send your date, the venue and what you have in mind and we come back with a concept and a price, usually within a day. There is no cost or obligation to ask.

Can you do a sibling reveal or a reveal for the wider family?

Yes. Sibling reveals — where the older child opens the box or pops the balloon — are a common request and worth planning slightly differently, since a small child needs a balloon they can actually pop. Tell us who is doing the honours and we will size it accordingly.
